I come here today to praise the tri-blend tee shirt.
Yes, the classic poly/cotton/rayon blend.
We all likely have one in our t-shirt drawer.
Regardless of how you wash it, it’ll almost always be soft to the touch and drape well on most body types. Because the fabric wicks so well, you’re less likely to have pit stains. You’ll stay warmer on cool days and cooler on warm days. What’s not to like?
Over the years, I’ve bought plenty of tri-blend shirts with the logos of some of my favorite bike and outdoor brands. And plenty of those brands will tell you that they’ve found the magic mix of yarns to make the perfect shirt.
Maybe.
If you want to pay $40 for a t-shirt to show your love for a favorite brand, that’s your choice, but you’d do just as well driving down to your local craft store and buying a few screen printing blanks for around $8 each. Pack a few in your bag for a week long trip, rinse them out in the sink or a creek, and they’ll be good to go again the next day.
